Everglades National Park, Day 2, Shark Valley

After Flamingo, we headed straight to the Shark Valley Visitor Center where we had reservations for a 2-hour tram tour along the paved 15-mile roadway. The tour was very informative, and along the way we observed some alligators, blue herons, and red-shouldered hawks. We also walked up to the top of the observation tower where we had some spectacular, 360 degree views of the river of grass that is the Everglades. On the way there we saw an alarming sign. Our visit to Shark Valley was a fitting conclusion to a great day in Everglades National Park.
