Love's Seafood & Steaks

In the mid-1970's, on a family road trip to Florida, my parents treated my siblings and me to a meal of fried catfish and hush puppies at Love's Seafood restaurant. I distinctly remember the tall roadside sign announcing Love's to all those driving on the nearby highway. More than 40 years later, I did as my parents did, taking Clare and Conor to Love's for dinner, before heading to our hotel in Brunswick, Georgia. The fried catfish, made with a secret family recipe, and hush puppies were absolutely delectable, topped off, of course, with endless glasses of sweet tea. For dessert, Clare and I shared a piece of bourbon pecan pie.
