Our route from Philadelphia to Key West

The route from Philadelphia to Key West is a nearly direct line south, on I-95, from Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, and then into Florida and down to Miami. I-95 is the longest north–south Interstate and is one of the oldest routes of the Interstate Highway System. Its southern terminus is Route 1 in Miami, Florida.
From Miami to Key West, the route is US Route 1 known as the Overseas Highway, large parts of which were built on the former right-of-way of the Overseas Railroad, the Key West Extension of the Florida East Coast Railway. That right of way was destroyed by the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935.
Along the way, we'll be taking some detours off of I-95, notably onto I-20 in South Carolina (to get to Congaree National Park) and at times onto A1A in Florida.
